Muybridge

September 2004

Edward Muybridge was born in Kingston and has been credited with the invention of cinematography. The project was based on an eleven year old girls design that was then scaled up to 14 metres by the Save the World Team headed by Miriam Zadik Gold and Howard Grange.

It is an absolutely stunning piece of work.

Over 300 people from the local community worked on it including lots of local school children and one excellent glass cutter called Tony!

Comments

Town centre manager, Graham McNally said:

"Congratulations to Bernadette Vallely and all the team at Save The World Club on the fabulous wall in Castle Street. It is an inspiration."

Roger Hayes, former councillor for Grove ward said:

"Inspirational indeed. I visited the site and my favourite moment was when three young hooded skateboarders rode by and said how wonderful it was. They then rode back and forth watching themselves become part of the art perfect."

Anthony Grover, accountant for Save the World said:

"The mosaic is fantastic and beautifully crafted. It is a credit to the community."
