Howard and Maria were asked to go over to the Co-operative by Elena Valsaachi to work with the residents of the Psychiatric Unit on a mosaic project that could continue after they left.

They spent one week living and working in the hostel. They spent time rushing all over Milan in a van finding tools, getting companies to donate tiles and finally work with the residents.

They first of all put up two huge mirrors and then proceeded to mosaic directly onto the wall giving the residents an example of how easy it is to mosaic.

Maria instigated the residents led mosaic of the Ostell emblem. She worked closely with an inmate also called Maria completing a lovely mosaic on the very last day of their visit.
